One of the reasons I chose the weekend for "cruising" was because it fell
during the North American Lighthouse Festival.
Jim and I went inside the vendor tent near the new museum site. It was definitely
smaller than going to the Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival in Alpena, however,
it included some of the same groups. Plus we saw familiar faces from the cruise.
The highlight was finally buying John Wagner's spectacular book "Michigan Lighthouses:
An Aerial Photographic Perspective" which he personally autographed and dated.
Of course, we stayed at the same motel which is the only one directly across
from Old Mackinac Point and the Mackinac Bridge.
The fog house is a store and information center and the lighthouse is being
restored and may be open to the public soon. We walked into downtown several
times. On Saturday night a band played in the park (free) which was followed
by fireworks. All I can say after the weekend ended was "ahhhhh...."
